Single Item Recovery and Deleted Items retention

Hi guys,

Trying to understand the basics here.

If a mailbox is in a database with deleted items retention of 60 days and deleted mailbox retention of 60 says AND the mailbox has single item recovery enabled (SIR default is 14 days right?):

- if a user deletes and object it goes to the deleted items folder and stays there until the user cleans the folder.

- if a user shift+delete an object it will go straight to the dumpster and the user can retrieve the information within 60 days using the recoverable items feature within outlook? while in that dumpster the object is still measured against the quota since its stored in the "Recoverable Items folder" which resides in the non-IPM subtree of the particular mailbox? after 60 days (Managed Folder Assistant) or if the user purges the object from the recoverable items folder - is it then the single item recovery comes into play? Then a compliance officer can retrieve the message?

In other terms:

- if the user has deleted the item from the deleted items folder it can be (self retrievable within 60 days) and (helpdesk retrievable for additional 14 days?) This means 60+14 days?

- SIR is configured to 14 days by default, what is the limit - can one set 60 days here aswell? not legal hold like forever.

- And what about the SIR quota warning/cap? 20GB if Im correct, this is the space outside of the mailboxes that the SIR objects share? what if it gets full if people delete tons of objects at the same time?
