Hi.I've Installed microsoft exchange server In a test environment and created user mail accounts but I still don't understand what It actually does (confused smiley goes here).
Is It a mail server that has the ability to create emails like yahoo! mail or gmail ? If not , then Is It something similar to pop3 or IMAP ?
After migrating my mailbox to Exchange 2010 successfully, I went to my mailbox under Recipient Configuration and clicked on "Manage Mobile Phone", I got the following error:
I went back to Exchange 2007 and tried the same thing and it worked under Exchange 2007. Looks like my mailbox was moved to Exchange 2010 but not ActiveSync device.
How do I move ActiveSync device on Exchange 2007 to 2010? If that is not the case, how do I manage Mobile Device on Exchange 2010 after my mailbox moved to Exchange 2010?

I have the following errors on one of 12 databases in our enviroment: After a trojan Horse was detected and quarentined, the replication to the passive database was broken. Also backup is failed and will not complete successfully, that results in not purging the logfiles for this database.
When trying to fix the replication with a full reseed, I get the following error:

All other databases are replicating als they should be.
I fear that when I dismount the database and remount it again, it will fail, and not be mounted again. without a passive copy or a recent backup, this will be a big issue.
Anyone a hint or solution for this?
We have a client with two 2010 Exchange servers (fully patched and updated) in a virtual environment. Each server holds the CAS/HT/Mailbox roles. There is have a hardware load balancer. The mailbox servers are configured in a DAG. When doing a manual switchover of databases from one server to another, the CPU on the server that was holding the passive copy of the database goes to 100% with store.exe using at least 60% CPU. What should standard CPU usage be during a switchover? From a user perspective they see a 30 second outage in their Outlook. The client tells us that they were told that there should be no user outage during a switchover. Looking for documentation, one way other, discussing whether a user outage should or should not occur during a switchover.

they try to do so the resource rejects meeting:
Your meeting request was declined.
The end date of this series of recurring meetings is too far in the future. This resource can only be scheduled up to 180 days in advance.
Can I change the default property on the resource to a higher value - and if so - how?
please provide me the GUI way and shell command.

I have an elaborate Public Folder tree structure, including subfolders with mails and several contact lists. The PF database is set to delete objects after 40 days. The contact lists are individually set so that the “Age limit for replicas” field is 20000 days, as seen on the printout sample :

Yet the override does NOT seem to work, and I keep on loosing the contact entries that are older than 40 days. The same model worked perfectly on Exchange 2003. Please help!

I have a customer who is receiving an error when he opens Outlook 2010 when away from the office. It's the 'There is a problem with the proxy server's security certificate. The name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name on the target site ....'
This is only a problem if the 'Only connect to the proxy servers that have this principle name in their certificate:' is checked.
One thing I thought could be the issue is that there are 2 certificates in Exchange, one for some Shoretel phone services. Anyway, here's some more info:

[PS] C:\Windows\system32>Get-ExchangeCertificate |flWe have Exchange 2010 setup and allow our internal servers to relay through exchange. We noticed that a web server was sending duplicate emails and after testing exchange with the Mail Flow Troubleshooter I was able to reproduce the duplicate emails being sent by Exchange. I first use Expected messages from senders are delayed or are not received by some recipients. When it ask for recipient and sender address I have used both to our internal domain and for external domains with same results. Everything checks out good until running the Mail Acceptance Test and that is when i see the Mail submission failed: Error message: The SMTP host was not specified...but the test email has been accepted TWICE and that is causing the duplicate emails.
For the most part exchange seems to be working fine except for this one detail. Our webserver was giving us errors like the mail server was not responding in a fast enough. But after running this test it seems to not be responding to the submitted mail correctly. Not sure what to do Please help.

UPDATE:
I was able to get the error to go away during the Mail Acceptance test but now I am getting 3 duplicate messages when running the test.. One for each Receive connector. My error was related to the Client recieve connector not have the exact internal IP of the Exchange server. I have had multiple receive connectors set up before in Exchange 2007 exactly the way I have Exchange 2010 setup. Why am I getting multiple emails sent from Exchange.

For the last for days, I'm trying to use SendTextMessageNotificationTo in Set-InboxRule to apply it to a Mailbox. Let me explain my progress:
First I created a New-InboxRule by the name of SendSMS
New-InboxRule "SendSMS" -MyNameInToBox $true -FlaggedForAction Any -MarkImportance "High"
then, I Set-InboxRule to:

And without any error, it accepts it. Now I wish to apply this on a Mailbox. I have tried a couple of tricks but everytime, It ask me:
