It appears that our Exchange 210 has holidays up until New Year's Eve 2012. Is there a way to update the holidays for 2013 and beyond ?

Exchange 2010 Transaction logs not Truncated after full backup
I have 2010 Exchange server with 1 database and no DAG. I am using Symantec Backup Exec 2010. My Exchange backup settings are for a full backup (truncate logs). For some reason the logs are not being truncated (deleted). I believe this is a relatively simple configuration of my exchange server and the logs should be deleted once my daily backup completes. Can someone tell me where to look for the problem? Most questions include DAG configurations.
Thanks,

VSS Copy Backup vs VSS Full Backup
Hi guys,
Okay, so I think I understand the difference between the two, however I'm unsure of which one to use for Exchange 2010. Different websites seem to be telling me different things. Should I use VSS Copy or VSS Full backup when trying to backup my exchange server?
By the way, this server hosts Exchange Hub Transport, Mailbox and Active Directory.
Many thanks,
Ben

Outlook 2007 Settings do not stick
Hello,
After days if not weeks, of searching for an answer, part of our issue is that Outlook does not keep the settings we've assigning it to. Example: when setting up an Outlook profile, we opt out of using Outlook Anywhere (unchecking it completely; we are inside of a LAN with the Exchange 2010 server). After changing these settings initially, Outlook starts and all is well, however, after closing Outlook, it forgets those settings (Outlook Anywhere) is enabled right away and we get a continuous prompt for credentials and domain credentials simply do not work, regardless of the syntax we use (domain\user, user@domain or just plain user).
Please assist, we need to get this resolved.
Thank you.

Tasks keep disappearing from Outlook 2010
My user just upgraded from Office 2003 to Office 2010, to resolve the issues of disappearing tasks. The tasks though keep disappearing. This issue was happening in 2003 but continues in 2010. MS support states that Office 2010 is setup fine, and that the issue is with Exchange 2010. The tasks are there for awhile but then disappear.
What should I be looking for on my Exchange 2010 Server.
Replacing a HUB/CAS Server w/o Downtime
Because of OS level issues we're having with our only HUB/CAS server I've been asked to stage a replacement and get everyone cut over to it with no downtime.
I have loaded an OS on the new server and installed Exchange 2010 and provisioned the HUB/CAS role on the box. I've never done an "in place" cut in like this before so I'm concerned about what the next steps are. To add to the complication the old server's NetBIOS name is "MAIL" and I want to reuse that name. Any guidance?
Error 'Unable to make connection to the server' when trying to migrate from Exchange 2003
I am having an issue migrating mailboxes from an Exchange 2003 server to Exchange 2010 in another forest. I've ran ADMT to start the migration, and am not ready to test the Exchange move.
The prepare-mailbox works fine. It's the move mail command that does not.
The commands I am running are:
$LocalCredentials = Get-Credential
$RemoteCredentials = Get-Credential
.\Prepare-MoveRequest.Ps1 -Identity test1 -RemoteForestDomainController dc.olddomain.com -RemoteForestCredential $RemoteCredentials -LocalForestDomainController dc.newdomain.com -LocalForestCredential $LocalCredentials -UseLocalObject -Verbose
New-MoveRequest -Identity test1 -TargetDatabase 'Mailbox Database 1' -remoteGlobalCatalog 'dc.olddomain.com' -remoteCredential $RemoteCredentials -TargetDeliveryDomain newdomain.com -RemoteLegacy -verbose
The error I get is:
MapiExceptionNetworkError: Unable to make connection to the server. (hr=0x80004005, ec=2423)

Running in verbose mode shows that is fails when 'loading source mailbox info". I would assume it's on the Exchange 2003 server, and not the source domain controller.
Troubleshooting, I saw most people who've receiving this error were due to the FQDN or Netbios name not being resolved. I don't have this issue, as both domain names are in DNS Suffix for all NICS. I can ping vie both, no problem.
All accounts I am using are the domain Administrators accounts with proper access to exchange on both ends.
I don't see any other errors pointing to an issue.

Exchange 2010 Out of Office - Not Working (Server is currently unavailable; Try again later)
Hello.
A client has migrated to Exchange 2010 from Exchange under Windows NT Server, and then jumped to Exchange 2010.
For the most part, all is functional. After a bit of a struggle to get autodiscovery working, with SRV records, Free/Busy data, etc., Out of Office ceased to function. The Out of Office began to malfunction after server-side changes were made to correct the Autodiscover features needed for Free/Busy, OWA, etc.
Initially, new Outlook profiles were created under the original Windows accounts and the popup 'Your Out of Office settings cannot be displayed, because the server is currently unavailable. Try again later.'
We've opted to try a new Windows profile and recreate the Outlook profile. Initially, right after creating the Outlook profile (using Outlook 2007 connecting to Exchange 2010 Stadnard), clicking on Out of Office Assistant, Outlook hesitates, and was in a limbo of retrieving information from the server. After about 2-3 minutes, it failed with the popup message.
Testing the autoconfiguration settings via Ctrl+Shift+Click on the Exchange icon on the dock, everything looks perfect, all Successful and no issue at all.
I've had some good folks on this forum assist us with Autodiscover and split DNS fixes (using a local domain of .local and an outside domain of .com for SSL certificate popups), so we're wondering if this is causing some issues as well.
We are using Exchange 2010 Standard SP1 on Windows Server 2008 R2. Also, during the default intervals at 1am or 5am, the OAB does not automatically download to the clients, causing them to have a stale/old OAB and in turn, causing Free/Busy to not display info when creating resources in the calendars.
Is Autoconfigure misconfigured that is causing all of these issues?
Please advise.
Thank you.

Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010 - unable to remove Public Folder Database
Hi
I made a transition from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010. All public foler have been replicated to Exchange 2010.
On the Exchange 2010 I also run moveallreplicas.ps1. Now one week later I tried to remove the public folder database, but I'm not able to do it: "The public folder database contains folder replicas."
If I do a get-publicfolderstatistics on the Exchange 2007 server I receive 3 public folders. But if I do a get-publicfolder with the identity I received from get-publicfolderstatistics, I receive the error "There is no existing PublicFolder that matches the following Identity: ....."
How can I remove these public folders?
Can I remove the Database using adsiedit?

Exchange Server 2003 to 2010 Migration from Child to Parent Domain
Hi All,
I have five child domains and one parent domain. Child domains has exchange server 2003 environement with differnet smtp namespace and email address polices based on the domains.
Now, We are planning to implement Exchange 2010 servers in parent domain and migrate the exchange server 2003 users from child domains to parent domain.
Could you please let me know best practice approach to do the migration and share the technical challenges and potential issues related to exchange and AD if you have.

How to sync Exchange 2010 Address List (aka GAL) with Sharepoint 2010 custom list
Hi there,
I'm looking for quick and easy way to sync Sharepoint 2010 custom list with Exchange address list and populate user attributes like telephone, email, job position etc...
I don't want to use any 3rd party add-ons or webparts from partner companies, because I think that this funcionality is essential for Sharepoint intranets and I don't want to pay something which is supposted to be implemented out-of-box.
Is there any way to do that with Sharepoint BDC service or with User Profile Syncronization service or something else?
Thanks,
Marko
E2k10 SP2 RU4v2 | Room Mailbox Restriction - Allow specific users to request and book the meeting room
Hello,

Exchange 2010 SP2 Ru4 v2
Requirement :
- This meeting room will be manage by delegate. No automatic processing.
- A group of users should be allow to send the meeting request to this room mailbox and deleate with manage the approval / rejection.
- Rest all should get automatic response -- That you are not allowed to book this meeting room.
Below are room mailbox [ Test Room ] properties:
AutomateProcessing : AutoUpdate
RequestOutOfPolicy : {}
AllRequestOutOfPolicy : False
AllBookInPolicy : False
BookInPolicy : {test.local/TestOU/allowedgroup}
RequestInPolicy : {test.local/TestOU/allowedgroup}
AllRequestInPolicy : False
ResourceDelegates : {test.local/TestOU/RoomDelegate}
With above settings, anybody can send meeting request to "Test Room".. What permission I have to configure so that only "Allowedgroup" users should be able to send meeting request.
Exchange 2010 Pre-Deployment Analyzer Link State Suppression
Current Environment: Exchange 2003 2 node cluster and one Exchange Front-End Server
Future: Exchange 2010, two multi-role servers
Question: Do I need to add the registry change for this? I have a single Routing Group with 5 connectors on Exchange 2003 (smart hosts and Captaris RightFax)
After running the Exchange Pre-Deployment Analyzer I see the message: Before introducing Exchange Server 2010 into this topology, the 'SuppressStateChanges' configuration parameter should be set to '1' on serverserver.local.com. This parameter is essential if you plan to create multiple connectors to the dedicated Exchange 2010 routing group.
TRANSPORT RULES SIZE LIMIT IN EXCHANGE 2010
Is there the same size limit in exchnage 2010 ? In exchange the transport rules size limit is 8192.
Autodiscover / SSL Certificate Help Needed
Before I begin, I've been all over TechNet and other forums in an attempt to understand our specific certificate problem and ultimately, to find resolution. Unfortunately, given the conflicting information I'm receiving between BPA and PowerShell with regard to the certificate problem and because I'm still learning our configuration, I'm unable to find anything definitive.
To offer some background on our environment. Currently we have a coexistence configuration, Exchange 2007 and Exchange 2010. The obvious end goal here is to fully migrate to Exchange 2010. I won't go into our 2007 environment as it holds no merit to the current issue. To that end, our Exchange 2010 client access is configured as follows:
6 Client Access Severs (all virtual). Each of these servers are load balanced via third party hardware. We have several array URLs. 3 of these URLs share the same IP address, 2 share another IP address, and 1 has a dedicated IP address.
mail.maindomain.com, activesync.maindomain.com, activesync.secondarydomain.com - shared IP
mail2.maindomain.com, mail2.secondarydomain.com - shared IP
mail.secondarydomain.com - dedicated IP
Each of these addresses are included in our SSL certificate. The primary subject name is mail.maindomain.com and each of the aforementioned are SANs.
The problem we seem to be facing ends with Autodiscover not functioning. We must manually enter mailbox information in Outlook 2007/2010 and mobile devices. According to PowerShell, the current autodiscoverserviceinteral URI for each client access server is as follows:
https://mail2.maindomain.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
The Conflicting Information:
When I test Outlook Autodiscover Connectivity via PowerShell, I receive an error stating:
"The certificate for URL https://servername.maindomain.local/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml is incorrect. For SSL to work, the certificate needs to have a subject of servername.maindomain.local, but the subject that was found is mail.secondarydomain.com. Consider correcting service discovery or installing a correct SSL certificate."
The way I understand this is that I need to correct the autodiscoveryserviceinternaluri to match the URL provided in the self-signed certificate (https://servername.maindomain.local/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml). Am I crazy here? That's a pretty straight forward message, right? Apparently not.
When I run Exchange BPA I receive the following error:
"The subject alternative name of SSL certificate for https://casservername.maindomain.local/owa does not appear to match the host address. Host address: casservername.maindomain.local. Current SAN: DNS Name=main.secondarydomain.com, DNS Name=mail2.secondarydomain.com, DNS Name=activesync.secondarydomain.com, DNS Name=mail.maindomain.com, DNS Name=mail2.maindomain.com, DNS Name=activesync.maindomain.com"
This one is a little confusing. On one hand I feel it's attempting to cite the same error from PowerShell and on the other hand, it's telling me that the SSL certificate needs to match the host address. I'm simply at a loss.
I feel there are one of few things I need to do here:
1) Change the current autodiscoverinternaluri to https://casservername.maindomain.local/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml (match the self-signed certificate. Although that feels to completely go against the idea of autodiscover)
2) Change the current autodiscoverinternaluri to https://mail.maindomain.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml (to match the primary subject name in the SSL certificate)
3) Continue to research and find a better solution (this is where you guys come in).
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
